CV Boots and Strut Mounts

CV Boots and Strut Mounts
I'm hoping to get some help on fixing my S40 with some advice on what I can do myself or what I should have the mechanic do. I just bought and '07 S80, so I'm looking to sell my S40. To do so, I figured I'd go ahead and fix an annoying rattle that was coming from under my dash, so I took it in to have them look at it. They have found that my right side inner and outer CV boot was missing. They also found that I need a new strut mount (unrelated to the rattle I believe, but something important). The parts for the CV boots are $95.64 plus $256.50 labor and the part for the new strut mount ar $130.72 plus $247.00 labor. I've pretty much done all my work myself on this car, but this is new to me. Before I research it, does anyone think I can do any of this myself or is it worth having the professonals do any or all of it?

The half shafts with both inner and out boots as well as the joints themselves can be purchased for $80 each. (Usually expresses itself as a vibration on acceleration and clicking when turning.) The strut mount is a vibration at speed regardless if under power or not. My '02 s40 with 137000 miles has the exact same problem. DO a search as see the other options. This seems to be the most common repair.

Thank you very much for the response! I love to fix things and have done pretty much everything on my Volvo up until now, but I typically need diagrams and I found this which might be what you were talking about:

Wish I had the page that gave a descriptions for each number, but I think that picture will help. Now I just need the parts:

And you believe I should just go with the whole axle assembly instead of just replacing the boots? Thanks again.
