S40 T5 engine problem

Hello, I have volvo 2006 s40 t5 90k.

I have an engine problem with my car. I think I drove car without changing engine oil for a while. I found the sound from the engine, so I changed engine oil, but it was too late.

I went to several automotive places and they offer replace the engine or check the engine and fix it if its possible to be fixed.

I thought about few options and I wanna know you guys thinking.

1. replace the engine. ( It will be cost over 3000)

2. fix the engine. ( I don't know about the problem of the engine but if they take off the engine, they gonna charge 300)

3. sell the car without fixing.

please help me I really have no idea. And if I sell the car, I don't know where I sell this car with engine problem.

I just wanna know which way is the best way to save money, anyway I will sell this car.

Do you mean you ran the car when the engine was dangerously low on engine oil or merely omitted to change the oil / filter at the correct due time / mileage?
An over due oil change should not necessarily damage the engine to the extent that your post implies unless some other form of catastrophic failure also occurred?
