S40 T5 - Fuel pressure regulator - sudden low fuel consumption

Hi,
My 2005 S40 T5 had a full service 2 months ago, however about 6 weeks ago a warning light came on and the garage said it was the 'fuel pressure regulator'...they reset it and the light went off. I think there was some drop in performance and the fuel consumption has certainly dropped to 19.1 mpg (normal'ish driving), the trip says I've 260 miles from a full tank.......this seems very low considering the the official average is 32.5mpg!
Any advice or has anyone else had this problem and what did you do?
Thanks
S
