Service Light

Good Day. Recently I noticed that my 2000 Volvo S40 Non Turbo, displays the "Service" Light the moment the car is started. The light only goes off once the car warms up & the revs drop to below 1.

Can this be a sticky thermostat or is it something else?

Thank you in advanced.

Service light is an oil change reminder light. It comes on after xxx miles and will light every time the car is started for ~a minute until it is reset. Pushing the trip reset button in the correct fashion resets it.

Volvo S40/V40 Service Light Reset
  1. Hold down the odometer reset button.
  2. Turn the ignition so all the lights come on. (position 2)
  3. Keep holding the odometer down for 30 secs or until the service light starts flashing.
  4. Release the odometer button.
As I recall you may hear a beep as well.
