Stripped lug nuts
Hello all, nearly a year ago I purchased a 2007 Volvo S40 2.4l. These wheels came with the stock tapered lug nuts to fit the stock volvo rims. There were two lug nuts that were not of this type but of the basic shoulder-type.
After removing these two nuts I realized they were there to just cover up the true mess. It looks like the original lug nuts were over torqued and when they tried to remove them they completely sheared off the head of the lug nut, leaving the threads of the nut still threaded to the studs. As a result, there's no way for me to remove the wheels.
I took the car to the dealer hoping the warranty will cover this, of course it doesn't. Now they are telling me that these studs are not press-fit into the hub but are welded, meaning its not as simple as just pressing them out. Is this true? Seems like they are just trying to hassle me.
Does anyone know what I can do from here? Any thoughts would really be appreciated.
