Default "Time For Regular Service" Light on

05 S40 has 48K miles, just did oil change three weeks ago.

The manu says it is affected by the number of miles, months the engine has been run since the service function was reset at the most recently scheduled service.

Does it mean I have to check or do any maintenance at dealers? and I've no idea what spesific problem is with what part of my car! Everything just works fine, How do I turn off this message? or reset it as normal?

Thanks,

My '06 had been reminding of that for about 3 weeks before I finally found the "answer." I'm afraid Volvo has made the newer s40 a very non user-friendly vehicle ... the procedure below SHOULD be in the manual . But, I found the solution on another forum ... posted to your query in fact.

1. Press and hold trip odometer reset button
2. Turn ignition key to run position KPII (not the start position)
3. Wait 30 seconds or until service light begins blinking
4. Release Trip Odometer button
5. Turn ignition to off position

This works on the '05 too. If you are confident that all maintenance was done 3 weeks ago, just reset it yourself. If there is a real problem, I'm sure the car would tell you by throwing a code at you!

I'm getting the same 045 code. I have reset the light in the past, but for some reason, the light will not reset either. Any ideas?

I have followed the procedure with the trip reset on position I then move to position II.
I get an audible signal then 045 is displayed.
