Timing belt ops
Well I am a tech but got ahead of myself and forgot to lock the cams I am tring to figure the position there are slots on the rear of the cams how should they be as far as position the car is a 2001 s40 turbo 1.9 I also am having a hard time with the intak cam cover removal any advice would help a ton

Can't you just use the timing marks on it? Hard to find I believe! Heres a good guide:

Good to know you got it together.
After reading a post that said you really didn't need to lock them I did mine without the locking tool. Well, of course the spring pressure rotated them. Good thing it wasn't much and I had a mental picture of their positions.
Yes, next time I'll lock the cams to avoid the sweat.

Not so much hard work...but it is an interference engine so if you don't get them correct it could become very expensive.
The locking tool is much less then a bent valve repair. I don't know why the posts have been loaded saying you don't need to lock them without the warning about them rotating under spring pressure.
