Transmission Flush or drain and fill?
OK, I ordered the Mobil ATF 3309 for my 07 2.4i. I am not sure which way I should change the fluid. I have read the DIY flush that involves unhooking the line above the tranny cover and draining two quarts from the cooler line via the clear hose, shutting it off and pouring the new into the return hose...process on swedespeed. My main question to this method is: Why not just put a funnel in the dipstick tube and fill it as it is draining from the cooler? If the return line just goes from the cover back into the pan it would be easier to put the funnel in the dipstick tube compared to the small return hose. Is my reasoning right or does the "return" line go back through the tranny a ways before it gets the fluid back to the pan? If so I am thinking on draining from the plug, reinstalling the plug filling up with __qts of new fluid to replace the drained, then drive around the block and repeating until all 12 qts of new are in. Does anyone know how many qts will actually drain from the drain plug doing this method? And last of all, which way will drain a higher % of the old fluid? Thanks for your input.....
