Volo chip install/ review
If your not familiar with this look it up on eBay or google it. " volo vp12"
In a nut shell this chip is car specific and designed to install via obdII port and produce better mpg and a bit more hp by sending mixed signals to ECM, not to be confused with flashing the ECM to run to rich or too lean but just making it smoother and more efficient.
Looked online and everyone from mustang owners to Audi fans have been looking into this and asking the same question, does it work? For 90$ the promise of better mpg and hp seems marvelous but also to good to be true, but I'm crazy enough to try it.
Reviews are mixed from " wow this is awesome" to " fake and gay" but rather then speculate I figure I'll give it a go and see whats up, as a 2.4i owner it's frustrating to be so limited to what performance mods your can choose from, basically there are none. But where theres a will there's a way and I'll toss every rock to squeeze every horse out of my engine.
They also make this for T5's and other models as well so if it does anything for me odds are everyone can take part in this.
I'm going to do a full review and see if this is a total win or epic fail. Either way I think it will be fun for sh*ts and giggles

Chip is out for delivery so I'll have it by this afternoon. It is very sketch but I'm keeping my expectation low really anything is better then nothing.
It can be solderd on but it comes with splicing clips that just snap on. Like I said it's more for sh*ts and giggles more then anything
One thing I do like is the amount of positive feedback on there website and if it's not positive it's nuetral which isn't as bad as negative. No report of the car blowing up but if I don't have a review by tonight tell me wife I love her and I forgot to pay my life insurance.

Exchanged a few emails, the chips do not affect boost levels and as far as i can figure out they are a universal chip. They have multiple basic Cylinder/Litre and then have ( i hope) conservative fuel map changes. It will add HP but i have no idea at what cost to fuel economy. The OBDII port is actually pretty impressive. I am interested in how you report back on it.

Just finished the install. Was pretty neat not alot of slack on the ODB II wire harness but enough. The clips are easy to use and all you really need is a pair of pliers and a firm grip. A flash will help too.
Takes up to 120 miles to see really difference but maybe sooner im going for a drive now I'll check back in later on with pics.

so first things first, wow. this is pretty neat right away my throttle screamed when i turned the key, kinda worried me but then it started idling fine. opened her up on the freeway and i gotta say if this is a placebo effect its workin damn well. it feels like throttle opens up more now and has more low end tourque. of course its not off the charts but its noticable. like it has a lot more go in it at the touch of the peddle. its strange i cant explain it but i must say it was worth it even for the little kick it provided me.
as far as mpg goes time will tell.

That dyne test is bs it was the first thing I saw too and after digging in a lil deeper come to find out the guy may have had an exhaust or just a muffle tip installed halfed assed so the car was already having some loss. I've seen more positive stuff the negative and one bimmer dyno. Inknow what I feel in my car and I wish I could afford a dyno run. But I feel a difference.

Dear Volvo enthusiasts, with regard to the Volo VP12 chip I can assure you it is MARVELLOUS!!
Although I have not put one into my Volvo (a 2011 C30 T5) as it is still under warrantee, I HAVE JUST had one wired into my 164kw 3.5 litre 2003 Mitsubishi Diamante Wagon..
This had had had the restrictive factory rear can just recently replaced with a shortish 'Super Turbo' straight through at the tail pipe and also had had the cat removed and replaced with an enormous 'pre-chamber' style straight through resonator.
So these changes along with a K&N air filter had changed things into a raspy leaned-out effect that I didn't really like that much..
Immediately the Volo VP12 was wired into the OBD11 port the engine was 'smoothed-out' ..quiet ..and verrrry responsive to the slightest throttle!!
Cruising at 100kms at just under 2000rpm fuel usage dropped down to 9.5 litres per 100kms!! (Previously it was always over 10 litres per 100ms)
So in a nutshell the Volo VP12 gave me a smoother more responsive engine that uses less fuel then before to do the same job!!
MARVELOUS!!
