Welcome the the forum.

The install is very simple and I have put HIDs in all of my Volvos. I would recommend a 4500K bulbs if you are running a 35W ballast or a 6000K bulb if you are running a 55w ballast. That will give you the most light output and the light will look white. If you start going higher then that, you will get the blue and purple colors which will give you less light then stock and will get the police on your tail.

I'd look on eBay for a much cheaper kit you will need a set of balests as well as bulbs. Also beware that you might get some low beam error codes even if the lights work just fine with some kits.

I have 8k in mine on both the low beams and the fogs and I've never had any issue here in NM or parts of Texas. Matter fact some of the sherrifs mustangs and chargers are equipped with hids. Looks pretty bad ass.

I dont where hids are banned I think parts of California are kinda strict on them.

Here in Dallas they are banned, and some really picky State inspec's people won't pass you with them in stock housings.

Well they use projectors, so it is legal.
