Volvo S40 FM Radio not working
 

Hello all, I am a new owner of a 2006 Volvo S40 2.4i. I already replaced a fuse for my 12v car charger (my first ever car repair). Another thing that is wrong with the car is that the radio does not work (ALL stations come in fuzzy). My initial assumption, and reference of others I know, was that the antenna was likely not plugged in. So, I went and got myself a T25 screwdriver and removed the front panel, as well as the display, and the radio. An ASE certified mechanic that I found somewhere on the street told me that he did not see where the antenna would go.

I see no plug-in for an antenna, not that I know what to look for! Please help me to locate where the antenna would be, and see if it is plugged in, and if it is not, then please help me to fix this problem.

What is the AM radio like?

Same as FM, all staticy.

To clarify, my main concern is to get an auxiliary input in my car so I can plug it into my phone. If I can't fix the radio, that's okay, although I would prefer to get it working. The main thing is that I need it to accept auxiliary. I really don't want to use an FM tuner, but I will if I have to (first I'd have to get the FM stations working.) I've been searching the internet for two days trying to find a solution and I haven't been able to. I could really use some guidance.

Get VIDA!
 

You can get a VMware copy of VIDA. This will introduce you to Volvo's technology.

Basically, the amp is in the left rear fender, and the antenna is in the "C" pillar. Except for a run between an antenna amp and the audio amp, all audio is over a fiberoptic cable. Staticy sound could come from an unplugged antenna amp. Confusingly, it is powered through the coax, not by a separate supply.

Sounds like a IAM.

I used the Kenwood FM modulator, and am VERY happy with the results.
