Wet belt noise on 06 s40 2.4i

Hello, I just was wondering if anyone else experienced this issue before. When the car is started there is a noise as if the belt is wet, accelerating does not help the problem. It seems to go away after about 30 mins of driving. The car has about 109,000 miles on it. The thing is when the noise is there it has not rained or damp, that was my first thought of the noise. There is also a bogged down noise (like the there is a hole in the muffler) when accelerating but that also goes away after 30 mins or until the engine is warmed up. I am new to volvo, my sister has a s40 06 but 50,000 less miles and doesn't have this problem. I love the car though its my second day of having it. I was thinking of checking the alternator, and putting belt dressing on it, to see if that will help. If anyone has any ideas that would be great. Thank you

the noise could be from the pcv too. Here's how u check, when there is a noise occuring. with the car running idle pull the engine oil dipstick out see if it goes away, then put the dipstick back see if the noise is there. if it does that, I m 99% sure is the pcv unit.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that and didn't seem to cure the issue. I soaked the belt and around it with belt dressing, that didn't solve it but now it only makes the chirping wet belt noise on idle, when driving or revving it does not make the noise. I purchased a alternator belt and will try to see if that cures it this weekend. Thanks again.

What is the PCV?

positive crackcase vent, oil trap

it was the alternator belt, pretty easy to change. jack the pass. side up take tire off, take fender plastic off then have to get a star head end and loosen timing belt tensioner to take timing belt off first, then there's a alternator tensioner above that to take alternator belt off, very easy, takes about 30 mins to an hour for a non-semi experienced person.
