Default What is this and why does it leak ;-) (pic)

Hi there,

a couple of days ago this little cylinder (pot?)-shaped thingy started leaking on our 2003 V40 ...

(generic pic - not my car) - it is the cylinder marked in red in front of the power steering reservoir ...

it drips a bit ... brown fluid, looks like oil, but it isn't (it dries eventually, which oil does not do)

I get the check engine light on and off for quite some time (might be unrelated), but car just passed inspection (and gasses) a week before

any thoughts on what this pot is and what it does?

thx for your time and input - that is most appreciated!

Al

That would be an engine mount. Sounds like yours is leaking its hydraulic fluid and needs to be replaced.
