Yet another PO128 thread... with a twist?
Hello all,
Longtime lurker and parking lot mechanic! Here's an issue that has me stumped. After reading all of the P0128 threads, I seem that have a problem that maybe only a few others share:
After the P0128 problem popped up, I replaced the thermostat. Seeing as this still persisted, I also ordered a ECT sensor from iPD and replaced that as well. Still had the issue, and so I made sure the coolant level was correct and is right now sitting pretty at the "MAX" line. The temp gauge reads normal, and has ever since I had the problem, and the car does not run noticably different than any other time I've had it since this problem started to occur.
I have to renew registration in MA, and of course a CEL is an automatic fail and I'm temporarily stumped. My ELM 327 doesn't seem able to clear the code either, meaning something might be the problem still. Well... anyone have any ideas?
Any help is much appreciated!

This code has always baffled me. When I first got it back in 2011 my buddy mechanic told me it was the Coolant Temperature Sensor, so I bought a new one. I kept driving on the old one for a while and didn't notice any adverse effects. Eventually the "problem" went away, so i just returned the new part. Hasn't come back in 2+ years, and I'm still on the original thermostat!
