01 S60 2.4T "Brake Failure Service Urgent"
I'm getting that message and a brake light coming on when I turn hard and fast to the right. I've been told to check my brake fluid. I will, but I don't know exactly where that is. Also, what type of fluid does it take? Any recommended brands or anything?
Thanks |
yea i get that too i'm guessing the sensors on the right side so when you make a hard right turn the fluid shifts to the left (bunch of physics stuff) so the sensor thinks the fluid is low but once the car levels off the message goes away. I have braked when that message comes on and the brakes behave normally so i'm just deducing its the sensor cuz it doesn't happen to hard left turns cuz the fluid would shift to the right and the sensor's on the right side so it doesn't show up.

There is a ground under the drivers seat check to make sure its not pinched.

My fluid was actually low. I checked the manual to verify what type of brake fluid is recommended, DOT 4.

Thanks, I'll look into it. I'm sure they are getting worn out.

When your gonna check the brake pads make sure to check the rotors to see if there still in good condition. If the rotors are worn at an angle check to see if you can get them machined and replace the brake pads as well, because the brake pads will be worn at an angle as well. I had to do this and it got rid of the message for brake failure when turning right. The front left brake rotors had a larger angle which probably caused uneven braking and in turn brought up the message brake failure. Oh and when removing the rotor when is rusted on don't hit the rotor surface where the brake pads grab on to unless your replacing the rotor, hit where the rotor is bolted on to the axle. Hope this helps.

The message went away after I added the recommended brake fluid.
I still could use some new brake pads, but it is not causing the error. Thanks. |
I know this is a 10 year old thread but I am having the same problem in my car.
Checked the brake fluid and the level is good. My guess is that it could be any of the items in this list: https://www.youcanic.com/guide/volvo...-skid-problems The question is which one. |
