'05 S60 Changing Right Front Position Bulb
 

Can anyone give me a tip to replacing this bulb.

Do I need to remove the head light assembly?

If so I have read I need to remove the bumper too (please say no!), yes?

The washer fluid reservoir is blocking my way to get at it.

The side marker or the front position marker?

The one that is the last light in the headlight unit. Not the one by itself on the side of the car.

The front one isn't hard. Remove the cover and pull it out. Its a little tight for space but not bad

Not sure what "cover" you mean. The washer fluid reservoir I can remove, but all I see is the wired connector for the front turn signal. I'll be damned if I can see the wire or connector leading to the position marker.

I assume you mean the small marker light in the headlight assembly, under the low beam bulb. To replace this, you need to remove the black cover on the back of the headlight. If you mean the front side marker, then your best bet would be to remove the headlight. Even using pliers to try to turn the socket, it usually snaps. And yes, to remove the headlight assembly, then the bumper has to be removed (or partially removed)

No, if you look at the headlight as it wraps around the side of the car there is a orange area (still part of the headlight assembly). The dealer called it a position light, I have heard it called the marker light or the parking light. It is not the light in the low beam area.

Looking at the link below page 152. It is called the side marker light (which makes no sense to me and the picture doesn't really show how it looks). It also seems to mention it is only when you have xenon lights but that is kid of unclear.

2006 S60 remove bumper to replace head light bulb.
 

Wife was charged $160 labor to remove the front bumper to replace a head light bulb. Big dealer in Texas. Anyone in same boat or should we head back and question the charge? Thanks

Changing the Low beam headlights on a Volvo S60 2.5T
It will take you at least one hour to complete this bulb replacement. Although the Volvo manual tell you to release the retaining spring there is no spring to release on the 2005 Volvo S60 2.5 T
First start with the driver side you will need to remove the air filter and it housing. After removing the filter pull up hard on the housing and it will release from the three snaps. This will give you easy access to the low beam headlight.
Remove the rubber cover and reach in to the cavity and turn the bulb assembly to the right a quarter turn if you are in front of the car. Gently pull the bulb out with the connecter attached. Make sure the orange gasket come out with the assembly.
Disconnect the connector from the defective bulb and connect it to the new bulb assembly. Insert the new bulb into the cavity and line up the three prongs, look thru the lens to make sure it is lined up properly then make a quarter turn to the left. Put back on the rubber cover and the filter housing.
On the passenger side all you have to remove is the rubber cover and use that same procedure to replace and replace the bulb assembly.

I would question the charge. The headlight bulbs can be replaced without removing the headlight assemblies.
