Thats just ridiculous to say. Sure if you run the same foam filter for years it will disintegrate. If you run a paper filter for years it will disintegrate. Uni air filters like the ones I run last a year no problem and I clean them 3 times. I have never had disintegration and they never let me down. I have never had AMM, MAF, or AFM go bad with the foam filter. I believe thats why they use them in pretty much all forms of racing, but the most impressive is motocross, baja, indy and rally.

You may not have experienced problems, but a lot of people have. And not just in the Volvo world either.

So like I said DO NOT use FOAM filters. Why risk it.

Show me examples. Especially ones that have occurred and weren't from complete neglect or from some idiot letting one sit around for 5 years soaked in oil. I think someone sold you a lie and you're propagating it. Having had 20+ years of dealing with foam filters on motocross bikes and on cars that I, my family, and friends have built, raced, enjoyed. I'm calling bull. I have never in those years experienced failure, Haven't even known anyone who has. And EVERYONE runs foam filters on motocross bikes, why because they trap the most dirt, and flow the most air.

Parts came and installed it last night. Couldn;t be any easier, even had time to clean-up engine bay.

I have to admit, it put a smile on my face :D:D:D:D

I did drive behind a WRX with a catback exhaust, nothing compares to that note but, that mod is for another day :(

Koop,

While the car was "learning", what behavior should I expect ?

I just noticed slight fluctuations in RPMs for just the first few minutes. When i used to step on the gas hard, it would hesitate for a moment, but that went away. I didn't really have any issues.
