Hello to everyone. I own a very nice 01 S60 Volvo and the message indicator lamp is orange with "Gear selector reduced function" in the message window. The car drives fine but I would like to fix this on my own. It appears the previous owner had a new PNP installed as it looks brand new. COuld it be that they didn't adjust it properly thus giving me this error message? The winter driving mode selector does not work nor does the lights on the gear shifter come on. I checked with my local junkyard and they don't have any volvo's that I could pull any used parts off either. Is this a simple diagnostic fix or is this something that needs an import shop to fix? IT's got to be some sort of module or other electronic part as the transmission behaves normal (at least in drive and reverse), I don't use the other gears that much. Thanks for the input.

 

OH, DUH I forgot that I pulled the codes at the local auto parts store. I got P1 026, no DTC definition found. See service manual. Does this help any of you in trouble shooting my error message?
