2001 S60 - can I use stop leak?

I purchased my first Volvo about 2 months ago and I don't know anything about them. It's the '01 S60 2.4T. I do know you can't treat them like any ol' normal car.

So here's my problem.
I recently started getting the low coolant warning. It goes off about once per week. Instead of splurging for a mechanic to scope this thing out, can I just throw some "stop-leak" in the radiator?

I'm only concerned because of the sealed off radiator and the fact that I have to use that tiny overflow tank to put the coolant in.

P.S.
What type of coolant do I need to use in this thing?

NO,

Find out where the leak is, and fix it right.

Check the hose under the coolant reservoir, but most likely is a radiator leak (at the seams of the plastic tanks to the metal radiator). Common problem in a 10 yr old volvo.

agreed, find the source of leak, it could be easy enough to fix properly

you don't want to use stop leak in a volvv, while most people think that stop leak is okay to use it really isnt....and do you really want to risk messing up the engine for something that could relatively easy to fix? $100 repair(maybe) 1 can of stop leak= engine with troubles $2,000(minimum) you make the call, its a no brainer for anyone who has ever owned a volvo before these are one of the most dependable cars on the roads today, I would not short cut anything that would only end up costing me more in the long run, keep up the mainteance and you will have a car that will last you for year to come! good luck

stop leak...is a sin
its a horrible thing and i wish i was never invented
bassicley the only thing its good for is to seal a small leak so you have enough time to drive your car to the shop and get the whole engine replaced
