My mother has a 2001 s60 and i've been using it for a couple of days, and i've noticed that when i turn on the heat, it comes on normally but then it shuts down for a while and then come on again. The next thing i'm noticing is that the blower is not blowing air strong enough. The seats heat up but i don't understand why the heat blower comes on and off all by itself. It's freezing and the heat turns off by itself.... any ideas what might be happening.... She had the heating core changed about a month ago. Please help.

Okay, first the seat heat has nothing to do with the heater system, those are electric.

Second, how's the temp gauge on the car? You said the heater core was changed, was a system flush done? What part goes on and off, is the blower fan always on but you notice a difference in the amount of heat coming out?

 

hi, she told me that they changed the heater core and didn't mention if they did a system flush done. i doubt it. after installing a new heater core, should they have? the symptoms that i've experience throughout the day was that

when the heat is turned on there is heat although not as strong air coming out of the vent even on high...

the blower turns off and on at will, don't know why....

Blower turning on and off, I don't know off hand where but blower fan relay (if applicable) and blower fan itself could possibly be.
