Is the 37,500 miles service worth it for me?

My car is approaching 37,500 miles and I am curious as to whether or not I really need to have the whole service done, or simply need to get the oil changed. I bought the car at the end of August with almost 32,000 miles on it then and they did a full inspection when I bought it. Is it worth the $189.00 the stealership is gonna charge me to have the whole service done, or should I just get the oil changed this time around?

Opinions are much appreciated.

Thanks---------------------------Mike

Viewed almost 60 times and nobody has an opinion on what I should do? I am just looking for opinions to help me make up my mind. I don't need advice and I certainly wouldn't try to hold anyone responsible for an opinion.

Please give me your thoughts guys and girls.

Thanks------------------------Mike

What does the whole service entail? If they are going to check and top off fluids and do any needed adjustments, upgrades to the computer, etc. then it is probably worth it. Also, you have to ask yourself, how much is your peace of mind worth? Just my opinion.

i know that service, volvo has them setup when your car reaches a certain mileage, i think its every 5k miles or something, my opinion just get the regular oil changes!

That service is pretty much just and Oil change.

The services you should possibly do are the 15k services and the 30k services.

15k Oil change and pollen filter
30k Tune up.

Everything else is pretty much an oil change.

Thank you all for your opinions. I was leaning towards just getting the oil change and not paying the extra money for the full service.

Tech - thanks for the notice about the 15K and 30K interval services, I will certainly get those done.

They told me that the 37,500 miles service included the oil change, tire rotation and brake inspection, etc... I was thinking that it seemed a little high and when I just bought the car in August, 5,000 miles ago, I didn't think it was worth the added expense.

Thanks again.----------------------Mike

Are you positive that there are no new programs to be loaded into your computer? Nows the time to make inquiry as failure to do so could be detrimental on various parts of your Volvo. Yes, the dealer will charge you for updates................then again, I have been fortunate and so far they have been free.

Yes but most Dealers won't even check unless you specify.

As a Volvo tech I can tell you that the 37500 is just an oil change and tire rotation if necesary. There are a couple other things inspected but if everything seems to be running right then dont worry about it. Oil leaks are very obvious as are suspension problems, you would hear noises. The only services that you really need to worry about are at 15000 mile intervals. Hope this is helpful and I hope you don't get your car serviced where I work!
