I'm considering buying a spare for a 2014 S60. Appreciate info such as costs, space, etc. Appreciate any info.

I have a 2013 S60.

I bought the compact spare in a nice carrying bag. You're supposed to strap it down in the trunk. It takes up about 10 or 15 percent of the space in the trunk. It does not fit in the well under the trunk floor. I think cost was $250 or so. You might find it cheaper on Ebay.

It will make loading large objects in the trunk difficult.

I got it mainly to make the wife feel better. I haven't had a flat in a long time, and so think the trend of not including a spare is probably not crazy.

I bought it at the dealer; had it included in the purchase of the car. But as I say, I saw it cheaper on Ebay. I just wanted to get it at the same time as the car.

 

I have a 2013 S60 and purchased the compact spare and bag on Ebay. I'm old school, and feel more secure having a spare.

I will agree with pauljordantx as to the amount of space it takes up when place ON the floor of the trunk. However, Volvo does make a Spare Wheel Under the Floor storage kit, Part Number 31399083. This allows you to store the spare UNDER the trunk floor, which makes it easier to load items. It does raise the floor of the trunk a few inches.

My spare tire and cover cost me $89.99 on Ebay. Tire and cover are NEW! And the cover is actually grey leather! I will be purchasing the storage kit...trying to wait for one to show up on Ebay.

 

Went to the Volvo dealer here in Spain and asked about the PN 31399083 floor storage kit. They could not show me a picture of it. Is it hard to install? Does it take up much room in the trunk? Does it come with Jack or anything.Appreciate all coments.
