S60 2003 Non Turbo Stalls ocasionally, help needed
Hi, new to the forum here. Looking for help from the experts
I just purchased a 2003 S60 non turbo with 115K miles and it runs pretty good, but I have noticed two things that might be related:
When accelerating the car pulls great and never stalls or hesitates. However, when braking to a stop I can feel how the RPMs drop and then kick back up. I originally thought this was the gearbox downshifting but it seems more of an issue than regular behavior. The RPMs go to about 500 then kick up to 800 and finally level at 700.
Sometimes the car will also stall when braking to a stop. I can then start right up without any problem and the car will run just fine. The battery is new and I just made sure the terminals were nice and tight. I must also say this happens about once every 20 days or so..
I'll gladly answer any question, I'm trying to diagnose this before going to the dealership and get my money stolen (super expensive here in Guatemala)
Thanks in advance
Enrique

had the same problem
hi enrique, i had the same problem, if you check under the hood, there is a vaccum hose going from your intake air filter box to the engine, near the exhaust manifold, my vaccum line had melted and cracked because of the heat, i repaired it by cuting it just a bit shorter and pluging it back , it fix the problem
let me know if it works for you, its a small hose

Do you get any check engine light at all? I have a check engine light that comes on once in a while - had it checked and it is "P0101 Mass or volume air flow a curcuit range / performance". Car runs great though. I ordered the 5-point security star bit set so I can pull off the MAF and clean it with MAF cleaner.
