Default blown turbo

I recenty sold a S60 T5. It had 90000 miles in it. The buyer came back and said the turbo was blown. Can this be done by redlining the car or is this a common thing?

if a car is redlined from cold and generally driven hard from cold it won't do it much good but if it were to fail like that it would be in fantastic fashion, like bang boom type failure

It is good practice to let the engine oil and water get up to temperature before going to full boost as the turbo will be spun up so fast that cold oil may not do the job of lubing and cooling the bearings etc

how long is it since you sold it? im sure you would of known before u sold the car that is was shot so id get more info from the new owner as to what happened

hope this helps
