Brake Pedal Position Sensor
I've had a mystery problem going on for the last few years.
The BCM went bad on my 02 Volvo S60 a couple years ago. I had the ABS light, traction, brake, etc show up on the dash. Took the BCM out and sent to a company to have rebuilt. I got it back, installed it, and everything was fixed except I was getting an "Engine System Service Required" message, with an amber exclamation mark and cruise control no longer worked. I took it to the dealer and they said I needed a new "Brake Pedal Position Sensor". I purchased a new genuine Volvo sensor and installed it into the brake booster. It didn't solve the problem, nothing changed. The dealer says that the codes are: BCM-0103 - Pedal position sensor Faulty signal ECM-9400 - Brake pedal sensor - Faulty signal Their suggestion was that a software update may fix it. I haven't yet tried that. I thought that the BCM may still be bad, so I sent it back into the company that rebuilt it. They said they did another rebuild and replaced some components. After reinstalling, I still have the problem. I have no idea what it could be. The BCM still? Maybe the new pedal position sensor was bad also? Or would a software upgrade fix it? I've searched all over the web and can't find any solution. |
