My rear brakes need changing. Without knowing exactly which pads we needed, we ordered both the standard and variant brake pad sets available for my specific vin: ATE vented disc w/variant code RD04 and Akebono Euro vented disc. Someone on the Volvo Facebook group I belong to ran my vin on partslink24 and apparently my car needs the variant. Can anyone help me understand the difference, and does it really matter, considering the standard set is made by a better manufacturer?
