I have a problem with my o4 s60. When I'm coming to a stop the car wants to stall and die. It does it maybe twice a month or maybe twice a week. I can not replicate the problem. Speed, fuel level, angle (up hill or dowhill), temperature, or weather (sunny or rainy). None of these things are constant. It just stalls whenever it wants. Does anyone have any insight or avenues I should look down before I go to the dealer? I'm pretty car savvy and mechanically inclined. This is my first Volvo. Other than stalling it's never had any other problems.

 

I would try cleaning the throttle body first.

 

Ahhh yes. That could also be the reason for the intermittentlow idle it has also. The engine likes to idle at around 500 rpm for some reason.

 

Try the cleaning first and see if that fixes it

First, what do you use to clean the TB? I just used some of that carb cleaner stuff...

I cleaned mine, and I still have the problem. Its not like it stutters or anything, it seems like an electrical thing...I come to a stop and it just suddenly shuts off...like I turned the key off or something. It shuts off silently.

 

Mine also had a rough idle. I just used some over the counter throttle body cleaner and a shop rag. So far no problems.

 

Well Im going to try taking the thing out and cleaning it...we'll see what happens.
