Which cleaner did you use on the ETM?
So I've been reading about the cleaning of the throttle module, both as a preventative and curative measure.
The Volvo tech bulletin says to use Volvo cleaner "H", P/N 1161436-9
Some people have talked about cleaning it with Gumout carb cleaner, others have warned against it.
Someone said you can use WD-40 in a pinch.
Looking around the local parts store, I saw;
- STP brand Throttle body cleaner (a buck more than carb cleaner) and
- "SeaFoam" brand throttle body cleaner (3x the price of the STP throttle body cleaner).
So my question is, what cleaner do you use and why? What would you avoid?
Also, what "tool" do you use with it? I've seen brass brush, nylon brush, soft-bristle brush, toothbrush, and rag-only. Someone said there's a special coating on the bore so you don't want to damage it. Recommendations?
