Clunk when shifting

Clunk when shifting
I'm looking at a used 2004 S60 with 64K on it. It's always been maintained. I've been driving it this afternoon for a few hours and I'm noticing that when I shift into forward, or reverse there is a clunking noise from the right front tire. Other than that all seems normal. Any thoughts?

Hi, I have the very same problem except that the noise comes from the driver side front tire.
It's a 2006 S60 turbo with 85K (km) on it, very well maintained, purchased from a dealer. I first heard the noise the second day after I bought the car, so I took it to my mechanic to check it. He said it was the drive shaft. The dealer changed it with a used one from another S60 with 54K on it. At first it looked OK, no noise, but after a week or so I started to hear it again.
I don't know what to do.
Here's a post with a similar problem (maybe the same):

PS: please post your experience if you find out what it is.

Re: Blizzard
It ended up being cheap. I googled "volvo ping" last night and discovered other similar concerns. In my case all they did was undo the front axle and re-grease the spline, noise cured. There appears to be a longer term fix, and that's replacing the axle bolts which I'll do if it comes back.
Ps: I bought the car, I was able to visit the non-dealer volvo garage where it's been serviced and actually talked with the previous owner. If it wasn't for the odometer reading you'd think it was a brand new car.
