Decarbonizing engine? (S60R)

Does anyone have any experience (or counsel) regarding decarbonizing the engine? I'm planning on doing a fuel injector cleaning; but am thinking of adding the de-carbonizing. My S60R has about 103,000 miles, and is beginning to lose a little mileage and performance. (Oil changes have been regular and synthetic; gas is always 93, plugs changed every 30k instead of 60k, and new iPd ignition coils.) ..So the car's been maintained well, but I'm thinking of doing this level of maintenance now to simply clean everything out.

I've used Techron in the gas, but I'm looking to do something a little more "deep cleaning" at this point. I've heard of a product called SeaFoam that's sprayed in the throttle body, and I'm thinking of buying an injector cleaner (that will also work a decarbonizer into the cylinders -- through the throttle body/intake manifold.)

But I'm wondering if such a move is actually more detrimental to the car than would be helpful. SeaFoam's main active ingredient is Naptha, which I understand some believe may be harmful.

So I'm simply looking for advice. Anyone ever go to this extent with their cars?

I'm looking to keep this baby until 300k. ;)

has your car stalled at all??? my car started stalling and under the intake is a box which was clogged with carbon and I just replaced it...car runs so smooth and gas mileage has gone back up! if your able to work on the car yourself I would tell you to change out the box(fuel seperator) and you will see much improvement in your cars performance!

PAT, where is the fuel separator you're referring to? I think I have to replace that too.

BBam, it's under the manifold.....its commonly referred to as the "BOX" the price for the part genuine volvo is $75 not bad and if your able to do the labor yourself your getting away cheap, makes the car run fantastic I don't remember the last time my car idle was this smooth and she seems to have more zip when you need it! BBam here is the thread where I posted and you replied https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...talling-65201/

All the while I thought the fuel separator you mentioned was different from the flame trap.

Using Seafaom works Great But there is always a risk. I do it every 50k or so and while the first time at 105k the smoke that came off the car was like a smoke grenade went off in my drive way, The last time was far less. Here is a how to and should walk you right threw it . Its for a 2.4 but the set up is the same for your car http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/for...hp?f=9&t=30650. Works Great..
