Having trouble removing Turbo Oil Return Line on S60 T5
Can anyone please give me a tip on removing the Turbo Oil Return Line on my S60 T5?
I have seen a post that says force it back between the two coolant lines but that is not working. Has anyone here experienced this problem and what was your solution. Thank you. Don  |

You want to replace the gasket and the o-ring?
If you remove the support clamp between the oil and coolant pipe and then use a allen wrench to remove the two bolts securing the oil drain pipe to the turbo you should be able to just pull out the oil drain pipe from the engine block. You probably need to turn the oil pipe a little bit from side to side while disconnecting it from the engine block. |
Thank you for trying to help me. I already had removed all the bolts and was trying to remove the line as you and others have said.
It is real tight and just can not break it free. I thought about loosening one of the coolant lines and freeing up the area a bit. Backed off that idea when the coolant started to drip out. I may go back to loosening and detaching the coolant line unless anyone can suggest otherwise. Thanks again. |
Just keep working it
:) Lesson learned, the pipe must be completely seated in the block to have the clearance to clear the pipes that surrround it. I didnt realize this until the pipe slid down after pulled the old oring out. Very frustrating but just keep working it until you figure it out. It was like solving one of those steel triangle brainteazers where you try to separate the two pieces of metal.
