Default High Beams Inop, kinda...

Howdy!

I picked up a 2006 S60 for my wife about a year ago. It is a STELLAR automobile. When I bought it, I was remiss about checking the high beam function. The high beams will come on, but only for as long as you have the stalk pulled back.

They briefly worked for one or two nights after holding the stalk back for an extended time, but never since.

I presume it is a fault in the relay, but I'm not sure, and before I go digging around in the electrical system, I figured I'd ask here and see if this was a common issue that had a fix that wasn't so obvious.

And yes, I did a bit of searching and didn't find anything in this forum that pointed directly to this situation.

Thanks in advance and happy to be here!

ES6T is correct, if your light switch is not on the high beams WILL NOT stay on...you need to turn the dial on the light switch to the on position in order for the high beams to stay on, you can turn the lights to the on position and when the car is shut off the lights will go out so your battery does not drain, that's the nice thing about volvo cars!
