Default P0079 Code Repair/Cleaning Attempt

Hello, everyone! I hope this post finds everyone and their cars well!

I need a little help with my 2006 Volvo s60 2.5T Turbo. I just bought it at 175k miles less than a week ago and I'm super stoked!

It needs work, and the first task I'm trying to accomplish is the P0079 code I'm getting from my CEL. I understand it has to do with the Exhaust CVVT Solenoid. From my research on these forums and beyond, the steps I'm planning to take include:

1) removing solenoid and cleaning it thoroughly with Brake Cleaner.
2) replacing the gasket
3) clean off excess oil from the VVT Hub (where the solenoid sits. Is this correct?)
4) Replace clean solenoid.

From here, I'm planning on driving the car for about 30 to 50 miles in hopes that the CEL doesn't illuminate.

Now, this morning I tried to knock this out. I made a series of mistakes. One, I didn't have the replacement gasket on hand. Rookie mistake! Two, I accidentally removed the INTAKE solenoid (it wasn't until after I unbolted it and cleaned it that i realized it had the word "intake" right THERE on the unit LOL) and broke the gasket. I have a replacement on the way, but here is my question:

I ordered two of the same gasket because I couldn't find one that was specifically for the exhaust solenoid, so are the intake and exhaust solenoid gaskets the same part? If not, what is the part number for the exhaust solenoid gasket, specifically?

The gaskets will be coming in on Tuesday, which is when I plan on finishing the job. In the mean time, I placed a blue shop rag on the hub so as no dirt would sneak its way in there and placed the solenoid on top to act as a paper weight.

Also, what parts of the solenoids should i lubricate (with oil?) before re installation? The gasket?

I'm a very inexperienced DIY'er, but I love learning about cars and how to fix 'em!

Thanks in advance for any help and advice!

Kind regards,
LoftiestMilk0
Update: I have since taken both units off, cleaned them, and placed them back on with the new gaskets. CEL cane back on, though. How do I test the solenoid to make sure it’s working? Thanks guys! Oh, and yes bothe of the solenoid gaskets are exactly the same!

see if PN 30731212 is the gasket you're looking for.

That’s the one! I ordered two of these. It’s just that it says it’s for the CVVT exhaust solenoid so I wasn’t sure if the intake valve had it’s own.*edit* solenoid, not valve.
