Looking to purchase an s60

I've been getting pretty close to pulling the trigger on my first Volvo - until I read about the issues with oil consumption on the 2012 s60 T5 - which happens to be exactly what I've been looking at. The ones in my price range sit at about 100k miles. Should I just stay away from the 2012? I've seen the TSB on the T5 , but I haven't figured out how to see if the VIN's of the ones I've been looking at fall within the range or not.
So I guess what I'm asking is
1. Should I just run away - (or pick a different year)
2. If there's documented service records, and no mention of issues with oil consumption - am I reasonably safe?
3. How do I check the VIN to see if it matches the TSB for oilk consumption on the T5?
4. Moving forward with a 2012 (or any other year s60) what are some Volvo specific things to keep my eyes open for when I check them out?
Thanks in advance guys!
