Default Low beam panic: burnt out

The real panic is how the hell am I going to perform a simple headlight chg?
There is no room to work once I remove the "lid", and if I had room, I am confused as what snaps off to get at the old bulb to remove it.
Any place I can look at some detailed photos depicting this? Would help!

The article conveniently not mentions the lack of room to actually perform the maneuver. A simple job turns into a nightmare.

I made an attempt to do that same job but decided I like the skin on my hands where it is. Going to let the shop do it at my next oil change.

I was able to put a new bulb in, but not able to replace the snap wire holding it in, so I resorted to duct tape.

On my S60, on the driver's side (US) I had to loosen the air intake tube and the box that holds the air filter to get to the bulb. There are three plastic "pinch" pins at the bottom of the box - 2 in the front, 1 in the rear. Pull the box up and rotate it away from the headlight. This would be a good time to clean your MAF.

I replaced my sockets with ceramic sockets I bought online from Superillumination.

http://superlumination.com/headlights.htm

I added extra lengths of wire to the sockets so I can pull them further out to make future replacement bulb easier. I also applied dielectric grease to the fittings. On the passenger side (US), there is no easy way to do it. The sockets twist into place. There are thre tabs of different sizes so that the sockets only go in one way. As you hold the socket in the hole, shine a flashlight at tha headlight from the outside. You will see the tabs and can line the up. Then make 1/4 turn. Hope this helps.

When the temp gets to user friendly, I will revisit the issue and do it right.
