Default MPG Gains - Insights & Experiences

I read here and there about various performance mods that results in MPG gains but can't seem to find a thread dedicated to it. The primary purpose of the thread is to focus on mods that provide real fuel economy gains.

If HP gains is the added benefit then great, but I personally want to know what mods directly correlate to MPG gains regardless of performance (speed / acceleration) gains.

Can those who have played around with various mods please share their experiences and MPG numbers?

Do a K&N drop in. Never have to replace, maybe see 1-2mpg. and nothing next to a full open source tune to cut down boost and reduce your fuel air mixture and a less aggressive custom Cam will give you real MPG gains.

Or, take out spare tire, and lose as much weight as possible. Weight is a car's worst enemy.

Well, I guess that means that my wife should be better mileage than me!

Cam, eh? Have to check into that but not too keen on tearing into the motor. Have to check out the details but the input is greatly appreciated.

Can anyone confirm an aftermarket intake filter will help? I'm not a K&N fan as they are notorious for not filtering the air appropriately. They indeed results in increased CFM flow but at the cost of dirty MAF sensor and beyond. Better options out there. K&N has done a wonderful marketing effort. Certainly will consider aftermarket.....just not K&N.
