Default New Member - Question

I just bought a 2006 S60R and was wondering if the noise I hear is normal for this car...

I hear a click sound every time I step on the gas pedal and then again when I release it. It does not seem to be coming directly from the pedal, so I am wondering if there is something making the noise I am unaware about. Still learning all the tech stuff about this car...

Thanks

I believe it is normal....

I hear the same sound on my dad's (Auto) V70 R....

It is probably a throttle switch engaging and disengaging....

Wait for others to comment......

I guess it helps to add that it is a 6 speed manual not automatic.

As for the pedal travel it is almost immediately when depressed. I asked the dealer if it is normal and they said no, so I will make an appointment to bring it in and see if they can figure it out.

thanks

I have a 2005 S60 T5 6 speed manual with the same exact problem. I would describe the noise as more of a clunking sound as opposed to a clicking sound. I was thinking it might be a blown bushing in the roll restrictor.

That clunking sound is the ABS system checking itself out before moving. The sound is coming from the inner front wheel side where the sensors for the ABS are. This clunking sound of the ABS system has been solved after year 04 model, if I,m not mistaken. My 2002 S60 has this problem, but not to be worried.

Our 04 S60 with a manual tranmission also makes a clunking noise.........our independent Volvo mechanic checked it out for us and he says it's the apparatus that connects the clutch pedal to the clutch that has various parts, some plastic, that just get worn and start to make a little noise, depending how and when you let the clutch out when shifting. He says it would be expensive to replace those parts and it's not necessary since everything is working fine. I trust this guy.......he's very knowledgable, originally from Sweden where he worked on both Sabbs and Volvos there before moving to the USA.

Ok, Just got back from the dealer.

The problem was with the front right axle. Dealer replaced seals and the noise went away.

Thank goodness it was a simple issue
