New to Volvos, Looking for an S60R - Need Some Advice
I am new to the forums and to Volvos in general and I need a little help from the group in selecting a descent car. I've got my eyes set on an S60R, most likely a 2005-2007 with around 50-100K miles based on the price. My only requirement for the car is a 6-speed manual transmission as I am tired of driving automatics.
What should I be looking for when test driving and inspecting vehicles? I have been doing some reading and it seems the adjustable suspension system is rather expensive to work on, so are there any tell-tale signs that there are suspension problems? How are the manual transmissions in the S60R? Do they have any known problems? (my previous cars had lots of 2nd gear syncro issues.)
I guess what I'd like to find out is what are the common issues that everyone seems to have vs. major issues to avoid? I have a history with AWD turbo cars (I've owned 13 Dodge Stealth Twin Turbos) so I'm comfortable with fixing mechanical problems, I just want to make sure I'm not going to buy a car that's going to be unreliable. I'd rather spend a little more up front to get a car that's in better shape, but if I can find a deal on a car due to high mileage (price seems to drop drastically at around 90,000K miles), I'm not against saving the cash since I can use it for the baby.
