ODB2 code P2112
 

Hi folks, I just read the ODB2 code after the engine light just came on and it says P2112. This is a problem with throttle actuator. Any suggestion on what I should be looking at would be really appreciated.

I cleared the code but it came back. Trying to figure out what the issue is. Anybody has a good suggestion?

I have fixed the problem by cleaning the throttle body. Normally to properly clean the throttle body on the S60 you should take it out and clean it on the bench. The problem is that on the S60 turbo the throttle body is located in the front underneath and is a big pain to access and to take it out you need to remove a lot of things including the fan. So I decided to try to clean it without taking it out.
Here is what I did. I disconnected front side of the plastic cross pipe that goes over the engine and connect the turbo to the ETM throttle body. To do that I unscrewed the clamp on the front that connect the pipe to the hose that goes to the throttle body and I also removed the torx bolts that hold the pipe on the engine. Once it is disconnects be very careful not to drop anything into the opening that goes to the throttle body. I then started the engine and sprayed carburetor cleaner directly into the opening while he engine was running. I sprayed until the engine was about to stall then stopped spraying, wait for the engine to rev again and then I sprayed again. I did that until the entire carburetor cleaner can was empty. I put everything back and cleared the codes. The car has done 500miles since and the code did not come back.

Spraying anything directly into the throttle is not recommended and can actually ruin the throttle body. The fan does not need to be removed to remove the throttle. Anyone considering cleaning their throttle- I would recommend not being lazy and doing it right.
