Peeling steering wheel

Peeling steering wheel
Our 2016 V60 has 30,000 miles on it and the steering wheel is peeling . Our 2011 Honda CRV has 120,000 miles on it and not one peel mark.
What it reminds me of is office chairs back when they used to be called leather. That all changed when the suits appeared and now they don't call it leather, they call it bonded leather. Oh it has leather but the very thin covering will peel like the skin from a sun burn. It is what my steering wheel looks like. My S60 had 210,000 miles and the steering wheel had a better appearance and so did my V50.
Anybody else have this look and what will this look like in a few more years? Mine is doing it in multiple locations on the steering wheel.
