Prepaid maintenance plan - worth it?

Just bought a v60. Comes with 3 year free maintenance and they want to sell me a maintenance plan for an additional 7 years for $4600. Coupled with a 100,000 mile 7 year extended warranty (CPO car with 7000 miles) this seems like a pretty decent option. I spent about that amount on my VW Jetta and I believe Volvo is a bit more expensive. My wife likes to go to the dealer and I guess given the slightly rarer nature of Volvos it might be just that bit harder to get local mechanic to do some tasks other than oil changes or maybe not.
I live in LA and bought the car from Rusnak in Pasadena.

I don't know the extent to which the numbers work out, but I went for it on mine as well. I didn't pay quite as much as you did, but then again, mine came with 34K miles, so I probably have fewer routine service calls.

My old Volvos I always took to the dealer for most things - the only real exception were the tires, and that's probably what I will do with this one.

My experience with my old ALH Jetta was that once the independent mechanics start putting in aftermarket parts, that those aftermarket parts just don't hold up as long as the OEM parts, and in the end they need to be replaced more often, and you don't save as much as you might have hoped.
