Rear bumper on 2002 S60
Tapped driver-side rear bumper on a support post of a tight partking garage. No real damage but the tab that clips the bumper to car got unhooked at the very end near the wheelwell. Tried everything to "pop" it back on but no luck. Any suggestions (besides paying attention) is appreciated.

It is kind of a pain.
Most of the time you have to totally loosen the bumper and then reinstall it. If you want the full instructions let me know. |

In the wheel well there is a t-25 screw on each side loosen both up then push in on the screw to loosen the bracket.
Then open the trunk and remove all panels to gain access to the battery area. Look for Holes in the body usually covered with foam circles. Under the foam there is 4 13MM nuts. Carefully remove the nuts then the bumper should slide off. Be very careful there is a metal piece in the bumper and a plug on the right side of the car. That is the radio antenna. You will have to unplug it to remove the bumper all the way. |
Thanks to this post, yesterday I was able to get the bumper support off, attach my old bumper cover, and reattach the whole deal. Biggest chore: that am antenna clip. The first time I pressed it on the bare metal side bent. After that it was a struggle to get it straightened out and clipped snugly while holding the bumper. In any case, all done.
BTW, the one I reattached is the old one that got scraped off. If anyone has or knows of a very reasonably priced replacement, let me know.
