I have recently purchased an extremely clean and low mileage 2004 AWD S60 with minor front end damages (hood/headlamps/bumper cover). I've been able to find replacement items for all (switching to a R-type front bumper w/cover/grille/fog lamp, which I prefer the look to standard type cover). The hardest item are the HID headlamps. I found one seller on Ebay selling both lamps (non R-type)for $950+...but a little more than I'd like to spend.
I was able to buy an R-type RH headlamp (love the cleaner look front clear lens) with a busted back housing. With both RH lamps I have, I will be able to make a good and reconditioned one. With that said, has anyone torn one of these headlamps apart? Is there a certain trick without breaking any internal clips? Is there a website/link where someone has done this project? AGAIN, I'm pretty handy when it comes to rebuilding components, I JUST don't want to break any internal plastic clips/frames. Thanks.

BTW, anyone know of a source or is selling a LH R-type lamp? Looking for one......thanks again.

 

I did it, I just tore apart the lamp assembly, it isn't all that difficult. In fact, the lamp assembly I'd purchase, I had to replace the harness since the previous owner decided to cut them. Lastly, I FOUND MY LEFT SIDE R-TYPE LAMP :-) I happen to come across one at the local family business.
I'll be posting some photos soon for those that are interested in the procedure.
