Should I buy an S60r? Reliability concerns
I always liked s60rs and would love to have one however this will be my sole means of transportation and I would rather stay away if it's going to be a headache because my budget is only allowing me to have one that has 100k+ on the clock. Could someone break down the costs and concerns regarding reliability of the s60r and if I should even bother?

I have a 05 S60R AWD with 60k on it. I had a problem with brake fluid leaking into the clutch/flywheel area at about 45k. I had a long term warranty that I thought was bumper to bumper. Not so. I had to buy the flywheel assembly. Cost me about $1700.
I am having another problem with my front suspension right now. All of a sudden, the front shocks have gone completely soft. If I go over a small speed bump in a parking lot at low speed, the front shocks will bottom out. It is a kick to drive and I love it, however, since selling to China, I think the quality has gone down. We have 3 Volvos (2005 S60R AWD, 2000 V70R AWD and an 85 DL). The V70 has had very few problems and the 85 is bulletproof. I will look at a lot of cars before I decide if I want to buy another one. Good lock |
What yr. and how many miles on the clock? Look for the repair recs and check if all the necessary maintenance have been done. If it's over 100k miles, TB and surrounding components should have been changed, flame trap, steering and suspension parts changed, Have your trusted mechanic look it over.
They're fun to drive but it could end up to be a money pit. Careful |
