Are the stock speakers easily blown?
 

I have an 02 S60. I like to listen to my music pretty loud. The stock system sounds really good but I get nervous turning the volume way up. I know some cars, the radio will only go up to a certain level so you don't blow your speakers. That doesn't seem to be the case on the Volvo. I was thinking of adding one of those Infiniti Basslink subs with a hi/lo converter off of the rear speakers. Anyone else done this? I don't want to change thehead unit or door speakers. I would like to keep it as stock as possible. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Also, is there a way to find out what the speaker configuration is on my car? I don't have the owner's manual because I bought it used. It's a regular base 2.4 model. Thanks.

you can get any manual online, just google "2002 S60 Owners Manual"

as for the basslink, its like you read my mind, i also have been thinking about the system, heard great things and on some places like Amazon they sell for only 170. first do you have premium sound? or just 6 speakers?

second, i think we have 6.75 inch in the doors and parcel shelf, 3.5 mids in front doors also, and 1.5 or 1 inch tweeters by front door handle.

the speakers in the doors seem to blow pretty easily especially the front passenger side one.

I have an 06 s60 and also wanted to keep the appearance. I just added a 4 way amp and 2 sets of polk audio speakers in the doors. From appearance you wouldnt know the difference but from the sound, its a whole new world!! I would recommend upgrading the speakers. If you have the shelf speakers, they should provide plenty of base already.

how did you get them in the doors, did you take the door panel off and drill out the rivits?
