Strange noise lately. Help diagnose?
My S60 just hit about 107k on the clock. Still drives great and went through inspection last week with no hitches.
Over the last few weeks (getting colder in PA so not sure if related at all), but it seems I have been noticing like a higher pitched humming I thnk is coming from the front wheel area while on the highway sometimes.
Its been on and off, but today I heard it a few times pulling away from lights and I think was making a left turn both times.
I keep trying to remanipulate it, but cant of course, but my first thought has always been one of the wheel bearings going bad or starting to seize up maybe?
The best way I can describe the sound is if anyone here has had a twin disc clutch setup. .. when pulling away from a stop they make like a squeek/hum/whine sound while the discs are engaging. . . it kind of sounds like that but for a bit longer time frame.
Next guess is tranny related maybe but I would have no reason to think that other then guessing.
Any opinions on how to diagnose further or what else it could be?
Is the way to check the bearings without pulling everything to pull/push on the wheel to see if it gives play?

Its an 04
Mostly saw it at first at about 60mphish on highway. Not horrible stretch, but not the greatest either.
The latest ones from a light were just normal city streets. again not horrible roads by any means.
Next thought was the calibers sticking a bit. I tried to judge by gas consumption, but my gas mileage always goes down a couple when it gets really cold out (winter time)
