transmission message
hi i have a 2001 s60 2.4t and it only has 98000 km on it. Today all of a sudden there was this message transmission service and the engine light turn on. Is this meant to change transmission fluids or do i need a new transmission. The car run fine with lot of power on acceleration and on the highway but when i shift it to drive, it make a lot noise and the car jerk forward a little bit. thx for all reply.

I disagree with the Drain filll over 200 miles .Go to IPD and get there Flush Kit and find a local Toyota dealer because Volvo JWS 3309/mobil 3309/toyota t-iv or toyota type 4 Trany fluid are all the same . First check the fluid for color and smell. Also have you done this B4 Servo cover fix on the car?? B4 Servo Cover Update
I would start there. GL

I've got an 01 that had that exact problem. Take it in to the dealer to make sure it's had the software update.
Mine's got 257,000km and the trany is on its last leg. Starting to slip and they told me I need a new transmission. It went through new transmission fluid after only 1 year...the fluid turned dark.
If I have any advice, it's have a trany shop flush the fluid and do it every 100-120K. It may save you from what I'm going through now which is looking for a new car before the trany dies altogether. Maybe I'll get 2K for the car if I'm lucky.

thanks for all of you that apply. Is automatic and manual can use the same transmission fluid (mobil 3309, toyota t-IV) or do i have to use Dexron IIIG or Dexron IIIH for automatic. My car is automatic and i just had software update ($250 can), still shift hard. i call in to buy the transmission fluid and the part person say volvo do not recommand changing the fluid at all. so now i'm more confused. should i change or not.
