Angry Transmission Problems on a 2007 Volvo S60 with 25k! Are you serious?!?!

My fellow owners, incredibly, my 2007 Volvo S60 which I've owned for a year has a transmission issue. 25,000 miles. That's right, no misprint there. The Transmission Service Required indicator comes on while I'm on the Las Vegas Strip of all places. Then from a stop, the car needs alot of gas to accelarate. I've read several threads about this problem, but those were Volvo's from 2001 with 4 or 5 times the mileage. The dealer tells me they have to change the fluid and upgrade the software. Neither helped and now I'm being told they need to take it a part and it could run me $5 or $6k to replace. No way I can pay this right now.

I would be forever grateful if anyone could give me some guidance or helpful ideas. I'm stunned at this point. I did not purchase the extended warranty because (stupid me), I thought an 07 with very low miles wouldn't have much risk of expensive repairs. Not sure, whether to be upset, befuddled or just confused. Hence the faces. Please help.

go online and purchase one of the extended warranty plans use a company called warranty direct here is their link https://www.warrantydirect.com/ tell them your mileage is around 21,169 do not divulge that you have any issues with your car let the car sit for 3 months as 90 days from the date of purchase is required, make the monthly payments and when your 90 days are up take it to a mechanic or the dealership and say you have a transmission problem and bam problem solve.....while your still having to pay around $2,000 for the warranty and make monthly payments you will have an extended warranty if anything else goes wrong you will be covered as well.....but you didn't hear this from me
