vibration from roof

hi all,

i have an 02 S60 2.4TAWD with almost 100k.

i start the car yesterday and out of nowhere i get a pretty loud vibration from the roof when give i a little gas to start moving or in any gear(basicly when the engine start pulling and the chasis vibrates). if i crank up the radio with bass does the same thing.

today the sound is not that loud and alomst appears to be gone but there are times when i can still hear it.

i'm sure it's nothing serious but it's pretty upsetting when driving around town.

what could be causing this? i imagine there's not alot of stuff in the roof except wires to the rear reading lamps.

i will most likely let it be but just in case how much would it cost to remove the roof pannel(not sure what it's called) and check for the problem?

thanks,

Cristian

Assuming you don't have the sunroof, otherwise there's plenty things to rattle up there. You can not find out from use what it will cost to remove the roof liner (that's what it's called I suppose) and find what's up (no pun intended). We all live in different places and go to different mechanics and upholstery shops. You are better off calling around your town to find that you. But...
You are much better off taking something soft'ish lake a tennis ball or something similar and start hitting the roof from the inside on a patter (no matter what pattern as long as you keep it as such) and try to hear when the first sign of the rattle appears. Then you'll know at least a location of the problem and can decide what to do about it. Btw, check your motor mounts and IAC valve, it could solve the cause and the effect of your problem.
