Default What Upgrades Should I get For A Stock 2002 S60 T5?

Alright, so just a few days ago I got a 2002 s60 t5 for my first car.
I Love it! Is there anything i should be worried about? It has 115,000 miles.
Also all i have to pay for is gas, and i make like 100$ spendable money a week. So im looking to save up some money and get some performance upgrades.
I wanna get an exhaust.. chip.. and upgrade the headlights to real halo, or xenon lights, not the fake ebay ones..
So if people can give me some links or stuff to read; or sites to look at performance upgrades..
It would greatly be appreciated.

THANKS ALOT TO EVERYONE WHO RESPONDS!

1. Welcome

2. What is your budget?

3. What is your Hp goal?

4. Complete STAGE ZERO first, https://volvoforums.com/m_38606/tm.htm
You will find what that is in that link. Plus that link will give you links to various other places to look into.

The common mods are, downpipe, catback, intake and ecu upgrade.

Volvo mods are exspensive and you need good money to get anywhere.

Upgrade your headlights to real HID's and buy them from SharpHID, John is real nice and has great prices.

Save up your money then buy. Even if your saving for months on end.

Yeah well a downpipe can cost you $1k and a catback system can cost you that too. As well as the ECU upgrade.

Your looking at a possible $3k right there.

I suggest looking into having a local muffler shop fabbed you a downpipe and catback system.

3" downpipe mandrel bent to a 2.5" mandrel bent catback system with a free flowing muffler such as BORLA or Magnaflow.

So you think a exhaust would be my best bet to start?
Do you think i can get a Free flowing muffler now, to make it sound good THEN later down the line get the downpipe and or to a catback system?
Also what is the easiest to install i was thinking about just getting sometihng like this http://www.ipdusa.com/version.asp?st...&V_ID=3981
and an air filter to start..
but im not sure..

thanks for all your help so far.
and sorry bout all the questions.

1. I do not recommend doing just a muffler then doing an exhaust system. If your going to do it do it right. Don't waste your money on just a muffler then buy the catback. Do it right the first time. Trust me you will be much more pleased if you do.

That ECU upgrade is very nice and one of the best on the Volvo aftermarket. I would go with that one or the RICA PPC or BSR PPC. Either one of the three you will be pleased with.

OK Thanks so much so far, and I thought about it, and it makes sense to do it right, i was confused about this: do you need to buy a downpipe when u do a catback system or can you just buy the catback system and a muffler, or should you buy the downpipe catback and muffler?
Also, question. A BOV can i get one of those, or does my model need the air circulated back in cause i heard that it can go both ways.
Thanks so much so far you are answering alot of questions that i was really confused on.

1. You do not need to buy a downpipe when you do a catback system. It would be nice, but not needed.

You can just buy the catback system and or have a catback system made for you.

2. I would suggest buying the downpipe and catback at the same time. You will be pleased. That is if you have the money.

3. You can do a BOV. I don't know how to hook it up on the s60's, but I know it has been done and I will try to locate the info for you.

CJ from Volvospeed and V70R.com makes a hell of a quality downpipe but it is going to run you like $800-$1200 to have it made.

IPD if they still have one available will be good as wel as EuroSportTuning. Viva Performance is nice too.

Out of all of those CJ's would be the best, but IMO it might be the best quality out of all of them but it is nowhere near worth what it costs.

I don't know if CJ makes catback systems but for catback systems look into Viva Performance, EuroSportTuning and IPD USA.

Also like I said look into a local muffler shop making both for you.

3" mandrel bent downpipe is SS with a hi-flo CAT to a 2.5" mandrel bent catback system in SS with a free flowing muffler such as a BORLA or Magnaflow.

The T5 makes 250ish (depending on year) hp stock out of a 2.3l 5 cyl motor. This isn't a B16 honda civic. If you want to squeeze more hp out of it you have to do it right, and that means not scrimping on cheap parts.

Personally, I would not put a BOV on an S60. They have an internal bypass valve in the turbo. When a BOV that dumps into the atmosphere and doesn't recirculate, it's common to throw engine codes...

http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothr...=692783#692783

I put the downpipe/exhaust on at the same time. That way it's all done, and if/when you decide to get an ECU upgrade, you won't have to have it reprogrammed a second time if you got the ECU first.
